St. Patrick
St. Patrick, the beloved saint of Ireland, was actually a Roman citizen of Britain. He was captured at age 16 and held captive for 6 years before he was able to escape and returned to his home where he continued to study and devote himself to God. As a cleric, he returned to Ireland to help convert the Irish and he is usually depicted with a shamrock of which it is said he used to explain the Trinity. There are many legends about St. Patrick including the one of having banished snakes from Ireland.
