Parish Staff
Fr. Bill McDonald, a priest of our Diocese of Stockton, was ordained in 1989 after having gotten his Licentiate in Spirituality from the Angelicum University in Rome. After his ordination, he served as an associate pastor in several parishes and became the Vocations Director for the diocese. Since he had always been interested in spiritual direction from his seminary days, he began doing spiritual direction with lay people and sisters in the various parishes where he served. He later had the opportunity to begin Hispanic ministry in a parish in Las Vegas, Nevada and then happily served as pastor of three different parishes here in the diocese: St. Anthony’s in Hughson, St. Stanislaus in Modesto and All Saints University Parish in Turlock.
 
In the parishes where he served as pastor, he devoted a lot of time to implementing the spirituality of stewardship as a way of life and initiating the LifeTeen Mass and youth program. While serving as pastor of Saint Stanislaus Church in Modesto California, he helped to do the fundraising and the planning for a new church that would hold 1200 people.
 
In 2014, Fr. Bill moved into a new phase of his priesthood by becoming a seminary formator at Immaculate Conception Seminary in New Jersey. During the eight years that he has served there, his primary role has been that of Associate Spiritual Director, though he has also served there as Director of Liturgy and Director of Pastoral Formation. He has also taught the preaching practicum for the seminary as well as independent studies related to spirituality. Fr. Bill is now delighted to be here serving the good people of St. Andrew’s.
Deacon Mark Caruso grew up in Sacramento and is one of seven children. He graduated from California State University, Sacramento, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, and subsequently obtained a California teaching credential and for the past 22 years he has dedicated himself to teaching special-needs children, the last 16 years at Jenny Lind Elementary School outside of Valley Springs.

He married his wife Mary at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in 1988 and in 1995 they moved to Valley Springs. They have three daughters. Since being in St. Andrew’s Parish Mark has taught Religious Education and Confirmation classes. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of various parish committees.

Mark was ordained on September 23, 2017 as a permanent Deacon in the Stockton Diocese.  His wife Mary intimately particpated with Mark in the diaconate formation program.
