The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

This "rite" or "rites" are ceremonial processes that are integrated with learning the faith and fill the needs of those adults who are searching and inquiring about the Catholic faith. The "rite" entails liturgical ceremonies that address the proclamation of the word of God, acceptance of the Gospel (entailing conversion), a profession of faith, the Sacrament of Baptism itself, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and the admission to Eucharistic Communion.
The Sacraments of Christian initiation are Baptism, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist.

As a general rule the RCIA process takes about two years  or less and follows the flow of the Liturgical Calendar. Reception of the Sacraments depends on the status of the individual participant.

The program is open to those who are inquiring about the Catholic Faith (catechumens), those needing First Communion or Confirmation (candidates), or Catholics (the faithful) who would like to learn more about their faith. The program is essentially open to all
